VIDEO: Maybelline Fit Me Dewy +Smooth Review & Demo

Thursday, March 15, 2018

Today I'm reviewing the new Maybelline Fit Me Dewy + Smooth, and sharing how to apply it. The Fit Me line of foundations from the drugstore have a large range of shades, and they come in various finishes. I'm a fan of the matte version, especially with my combination/oily skin.

Since the foundation has a dewy finish, it's intended for dry or normal skin types. However I still wanted to try it out since I love the dewy, natural look, and when combined with a good primer and mattifying powder, it is pretty long lasting.

In the video, I show how I apply it, and I pair it with the Maybelline Face Studio Hydrate + Smooth Primer.

You can see in the before and after results, the Maybelline Fit Me Dewy + Smooth Foundation covered well without looking cakey. I would consider it to be a medium coverage, however it is buildable in areas you need more coverage.

Overall, I was impressed with the foundation and think it will be great for the summer when I like something more lightweight. It definitely has a similar finish to natural skin, and does not appear cakey.

You can purchase the Maybelline Fit Me Dewy + Smooth Foundation here for $6.

DevaCurl has done it again and come out with another game-changer. The new Wash Day Wonder is a pre-poo detangling treatment with plenty of slip to help get rid of knots and tangles, while moisturizing the hair. It contains saffron flower extract and pracaxi oil to provide silkiness and add prevent breakage.

How to use it:
Wet your hair in the shower and apply a liberal amount of the product from root to tip. Use a wide tooth comb or your fingers to gradually separate knots from the ends, working your way through to the roots. Cleanse, condition, and style your hair like normal.

The results:
It's pretty clear in my before and after photo that my hair is more shiny, has less frizz, and softened. It was super easy to work through the tangles, and I had less shedding and breakage during the process. I noticed it was easier to shampoo my hair, and I had less shedding and knots from the shampoo.

You can purchase the DevaCurl Wash Day Wonder here for $28.

-e.l.f. Beauty Shield Magnetic Mask First Impression Review

e.l.f. Cosmetics, originally known for their affordable makeup, has recently been coming out with skincare products. I love how each one I've tried is innovative, and something different you typically don't see from skincare brands. I wanted to try out the new Beauty Shield Magnetic Face Mask, and put it to the test for you all. In this video, I share how to apply it, what skin benefits it claims to have, and share my before and after results.
The Ingredients
The mask contains iron powder, which although sounds scary, actually has some benefits when combined with the magnet. The pull of the magnet helps draw out impurities in your pores, reduce the size of pores, and fight against skin pollutants. It also contains Carrot Seed Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Argan Oil which moisturize and help with anti-aging.

How to Apply It
It's fairly easy to use, and the magnet tool makes it pretty mess-free. Apply the mask all over your face with your fingers (I don't recommend using a brush like I do in the video because it's hard to remove with water).  Avoid the eye area. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it's completely dr. Cover the magnetic tool with the disposable plastic covers provided in the kit. Slowly glide the wand over your face while hovering above the surface. The mask will quickly stick to the wand. It does not hurt, nor does it tug on your skin when removing. Avoid rinsing your face afterwards to allow the ingredients to sink into your skin.

The Results
After using it, my face felt very soft. It also had a calming effect, and most of my redness was diminished and I could tell my pores appeared smaller. My face had somewhat of a glow to it, and it definitely felt hydrated. I plan to continue using it weekly, and if it becomes my new favorite mask I will certainly let you know!

-Maybelline Tattoo Studio Brow Gel Review & Waterproof Test

VIDEO: Maybelline Tattoo Studio Brow Gel Review & Waterproof Test

Thursday, February 22, 2018

When I got word Maybelline was releasing a waterproof brow product, I was so excited because I struggle with my brows since they are much lighter than my hair. I've talked about this many times on my blog, and have even shared how I get my brows dyed at the salon in the summer to match my hair better. In the summertime, I don't like to wear a lot of makeup and like to feel comfortable going makeup-free.

I purchased the Maybelline Tattoo Studio Brow Gel in Medium Brown. It's a tinted brow gel, so it fills in while taming the hairs. When applying, it's best to wipe off the excess product on the brush to avoid applying too much. It also comes with a spoolie brush, which can be used to comb through and blend.

The Tattoo Studio Brow claims to be waterproof, and last up to 2 days. Of course I had to put it to the test, so after wearing it all day I dripped water over my brows and did not see any smudging or transferring.

I also removed my makeup (while avoiding removing the brow product), and washed my face like usual. I was shocked that I could still see the color on my brows, although some was worn away. The next morning I could still see the color on my brows.

Overall, I was extremely impressed by how long-wearing it was, and when applied properly it does a good job at filling them in and keeping the hairs tamed all day.

You can get the Maybelline Tattoo Studio Brow Gel here for around $10.

One of my favorite types of videos are causal talk-through tutorials, where I can actually take the time to explain techniques, products I'm using, and throw in a couple life updates. For today's video, I'm bringing you along with me while I get ready for work. This features some of my go-to products to get ready quickly, look more awake, and not over-done for the office. I guess you could call it a natural, everyday makeup routine for work.

I'm also sharing how I refresh my curls (on days I don't wash my hair, because that requires me getting up even earlier which is not ideal). I show how I detangle, reapply product, and diffuse.

Since I was sick with a cold while filming, I figured what better time sip on my favorite tea while chatting with you all. Teami Tea has been my go-to recently, and the Relax blend has especially helped with my sore throat. I mixed in some honey, lemon, and steeped in my Teami tumbler.

If you're interested in checking it out, use my code "GENA10" for 10% off your Teami purchase.

Now on to my go-to products and brushes for everyday, and some new additions I'm testing out!
