Summer Foundation Routine (Also review for Revlon ColorStay Mineral Foundation)

Hey!
I'm going to briefly talk about my foundation routine for summer.
I love the look and coverage of liquid foundation (especially Revlon ColorStay's), but it is just too much work in the summer and can be too heavy.
I feel like my skin needs to breathe a little and liquid was really clogging my pores. So I decided to try the mineral version of my favorite foundation. I have seen a big differance in my skin.
I got the color Light/Medium 040. It has SPF 10 in it and says it has 16 hours of wear. I can't justify for a certain number of hours, but it last a pretty long time. The coverage is also really good for a mineral foundation.
The packaging on this sucks! It comes with an awful brush under the cap that twist up or down. Its way too small and it permanently squished flat. So I used a kabuki brush for it and it works fine.

The first thing I do for my foundation routine is apply the Jergens Natural Glow Face Moisturizer. Read a few posts back for a detailed review and results on that.

Then I apply MAC's Studio Finish Concealer in NC20.
It is best to apply this BEFORE mineral foundation. Mineral foundation is pretty much foundation and setting powder combined so its better to apply it before. If you have really oily skin then you might need a setting powder on top of the foundation. But it works fine with me without it and I have combination skin.

Then I use ELF's Studio Bronzer in Cool. This is an awesome bronzer for winter. I am searching for the perfect summer bronzer so I'm using this for now. I'm thinking of NARS Laguna Bronzer. What do you all recommend?

Then I finish off with Maybelline's Dream Mousse Blush in Peach Satin . This is the best peachy-pink shade. It has shimmer in it too so its good for a highlighter as well. But its not too shimmery either. I prefer cream, gel, or mousse blush with mineral foundation because it sticks better. Powder works too, but it takes layering and might fade throughout the day.

What is your Summer Foundation Routine? Do you all prefer mineral or liquid foundation?
Let me know!!

Haircare for Curly Hair- Control Frizz, Create Ringlets, & Stay Hydrated

Heyy!
Since summer is here I've been wearing my hair natural since the humidity. Its completely pointless for me to straighten my hair when it gets curly at the sign of cloud. So I'm going to show you all what I do to control frizz, make ringlets, keep it hydrated, and under control.

The best way to get perfect curls is to use products designed for curly hair. For shampoo and conditioner, try Pantene Pro-V Curly Hair Series

The key to keeping ringlets is to NOT brush your hair, not even if the shower. If your hair is kind of thin, you could run your fingers or a wide-toothed through it when its wet. But if your hair is as thick as mine, leave it alone. The brush will pull the curls apart and make it bushy.

Its also extremely important to keep curly hair hydrated. Curly hair is the driest out of all hair types. Keeping it moisturized with prevent frizz and breakage. My favorite deep conditioner is Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Deeeeep Conditioner. I use this once a week and before I straighten. I also use it after my hair has been straightened because it needs the most moisture after having it straight.

After washing my hair, I like to let it dry most of the way, but still wet. If I style it when it is soaking wet, it looks to flat. I have tried everything from creams to gels to mousses for controlling curly hair. Gel is wayyy to sticky and makes your hair look hair and greasy. You want your curls to look natural and soft. Mousse has been the best bet for me. It is good for all hair types. Any mousse with really work. But most of them still make your hair a little crunchy. The best mousse that I have tried is Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Mousse. This stuff is awesome. My hair looks completely natural, but under control.
This is also great if you have kind of wavy hair but you want to scrunch it to make it wavier or curly.

Another awesome Tousle Me Softly Product is the Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Finishing Touch Cream. I use this along with the mousse. Its like a thick gel-cream. It controls frizz. If your hair is not that curly, you could get away with just using this. Creams are more for just containing frizz and keeping it from getting bushy. But since my hair is really curly, I need both.

If some are your curls are falling flat, you can curl random pieces with a 3/4 inch curling iron, or a 1 inch, depending on how tight your natural curls are. I do this after i put mousse in and it really holds well. I don't do this every day thought because it takes more time. The best way to make it look natural is to curl them all different directions. Such as, some towards your face and some away from your face. I use a basic cheap Conair one because it doesn't take much. Click here for it.
The best advice for curly hair- Go with mousse or cream!! Stay away from gels and hairspray. No one likes crunchy stringy hair!

Natural is better!! Especially for summer. I like my hair straight, but people always tell me I look better with it natural. Don't try to change what you were born with!

I want to know if any of you battle with curly hair. It is probably the most difficult hair to deal with . But I have been struggling to control it all my life, and have just found the best routine.

So if you have curly hair, comment below, and share what products you have found that work best.

The Ins & Outs of May

I know its kinda late, but better late then never. I've been so busy with finals and SAT's that I haven't had time to post. My last day of school is this Thurs! So I'll have more time this summer. Products I loved and hated in May are...

Ins:
-Clean & Clear Advantage Mark Treatment. This stuff will kill blemishes!
-Using the Eucerin Aquaphor Healing Ointment i mentioned back on this post:
Here on my acne scars. I put it on them at night and in after two nights they are pretty much gone!
-Neutrogena Wave Gentle Exfoliation Pads. These clean the gunk out of pores and make your skin soft. I use just the refill pads and rub them on my face instead of buying the motor thing. Its not worth it.
-Garnier Nutritioniste De-Puff Eye Roller. I use this on my eyes in the morning and it soothes my itchy allergy eyes and takes the swelling down.
-Revlon ColorStay Mineral Foundation in 040 Light Medium. Who wants to cake on liquid foundation in the summer?
-Of course the Jergens Natural Glow Face Moisturizer. See my previous post for a full review!
-ELF Eyebrow Kit in Medium
-My Sigma SS187 for blush. Its the perfect size and since it applies a little at a time tis good for summer blushes like hot pinks and corals.
-Sandals
-Skirts. I'm like collecting them this summer it seems.
-My zebra print bikini from Victoria's Secret. Click here for it.

Out:
-Winter!! Summer is finally here.
-Thats pretty much it..

What are your favorites right now and from last month?

Gena
