Beauty Tip of the Week: Get an Even Long Lasting TanFriday, April 01, 2011
Hi guys! This weeks tip of the week is about how to get an even tan with a self-tanner, and how to make it last longer.
I am sure you all are familar with these tricks, but just in case I thought I'd still share.
Before you apply any self-tanner (or if you will be tanning outside), it is VERY important to exfoliate! Self-tanner only stains the top layer of your skin. So if you are dry and flaky, the tan is just going to flake right off. When you are in the shower use a good exfoliating shower gel, like the Sun Labs Exfoliant. I apply this with a loofah and because the plastic helps to buff away dry skin. For dryer areas like elbows, knees, and dry patches, I use a sugar scrub like Burt's Bees Cranberry and Pomegranate Sugar Scrub. Always use a wash cloth to apply these kinds of scrubs, because the grains can be damaging to your fingertips (I've had it happen- they got all wrinkly looking!)
After exfoliating my skin feels so refreshed. I like to do it all year round, even when I am not using a tanner. But it really does make self-tanner go on soo much more even and it last way longer.
Also, to insure your tan stays on long, moisturize your skin daily, even twice a day! I really like the Sun Labs Moisturizer.
You can get the whole Sun Labs self-tanning set here.
