Fall 2011 Fashion Essentials

Sunday, October 09, 2011

Hey everyone! Fall is here, that means my wardrobe is changing dramatically. I love the summer months, but after awhile I get tired of shorts and bright colors and am ready for boots and comfy sweaters. I love chunky sweaters, leggings, boots, and sweaters. I wanted to share my fall essentials with you. I love experimenting with new trends every season, but I always have staple pieces that work for every year, and that I can keep forever.

Skinny jeans are my staple for the fall and winter months. My favorite fit is a tight skinny jean in a dark wash, and is not too long since I am so short. I really love the Levis ones, especially the Levis 524 Skinny Jeans. They look great with over-sized sweaters and are easy to tuck into boots. And they're so flattering, especially the dark washes!

Sweater dresses are so comfy and easy. Paired with leggings and boots, they are so effortlessly cute. I recently fell in love with my Wet Seal Belted Knit Tunic. It's a pretty cream color, and comes with a wide brown belt. It's short sleeved too, which I like for fall since it's not too cold yet.

Booties. I love any type of boots, but over-the-knee and booties are my favorite. Click here to check out my favorite over-the-knee boots. These Charlotte Russe O-Ring Strap Heal Booties, are super cute and versatile. They'd look great with a flowy top and skinny jeans, or the sweater dress and leggings.

Sweatercoats. Even though it's not winter yet, it can still get a little chilly at night or on windy days during fall. My SO Cable-Knit Hooded Sweatercoat is perfect for the days a need an extra layer to keep warm. This can be warn with a cami and leggings for a really relaxed look, or just layered over jeans and a tee.

Leggings. Jeans are nice, but not near as comfortable as a pair of leggings. They're great with a long shirt or a sweater dress, but not as pants! My general rule is only wear leggings if the shirt comes at least past your butt. That means no visible cheek! Unless your leggings are made to be worn as pants (if they have buttons and a zipper) then they're okay. Forever21 Solid Knit Leggings are cheap and come in a variety of colors. Jeggings are also awesome because its the best of both worlds!

Scarves are another basic of mine. They not only keep you warm, but are totally cute. Leopard is huge this year, and a scarf is the perfect way to incorporate the trend into a basic outfit. I'd wear this Charlotte Russe Silver Streak Leopard Scarf with jeans a basic black tee. Lighter fabric ones like this are great for fall because they're not too bulky.

What are your fall essentials? I'd love to know! Leave them in the comments below.
